The Charms

The Charms are a garage rock band from Somerville, Massachusetts, founded in 2002 and led creatively by vocalist Ellie Vee and guitarist Joe Wizda. Their sound combines hard-driving guitars, Farfisa organ, pop hooks, and the swagger of 1960s garage rock, carried by Vee’s commanding vocal presence and Wizda’s sharply expressive guitar work.

The band’s catalog includes Charmed, I’m Sure, So Pretty, Pussycat, and Strange Magic, along with the later EP Deep End of the Dial. The Charms toured extensively, appeared on the Christmas with the Kranks soundtrack, and released music through Red Car Records, the Boston label they helped establish. Although the group has spent extended periods on hiatus, its members have continued to perform together on occasion and have not ruled out another chapter.
